We don't know what the situation was in that house or what the situation was with their guns. The mother and daughter might have had some familiarity with guns but that doesn't mean they would know what to do in a panic situation. Guns are something that have to be almost an automatic conditioned response for someone to be really comfortable using them in an emergency. That takes many hours at the range. Preferably hundreds of hours of shooting. At least dozens of hours. Most women aren't that interested in them to put in that kind of time with them. Frankly they bore me and I go to the range because my SO drags me there and makes me practice sometimes.

This kind of stuff goes down really fast and I am sure most people panic and don't always make the most logical move. On the part of the father, confronting the intruder might have been his only choice if he couldn't get to his guns in time. Or it might have been a reflex action to go towards the intruder rather than pick a different strategy. Because he may not have had time to do something else. In hindsight, maybe he could have run for the daughter's room and put her out the window and told her to run then taken his stand there. Who knows. But he didn't have the luxury of thinking through scenarios. Most people go into flight or flight mode. For men, it is usually fight mode by instinct and for women flight mode. So he confronted the intruder and they hid. For the mother and daughter, hiding in a room and locking the door, like the bathroom, might have been a panic instinct rather than trying to get to guns that they may not have been comfortable using or loading or that they weren't sure they could get to in time.

As the saying goes, “In unity there is strength.” Having one of these three pieces will add a layer of protection to your door. However, it is highly recommended to have all three pieces to make your door stronger and harder to kick in. Of course, it’s not a guarantee that your door will be able to withstand any amount of force, but at the very least, Door Armor is strong enough to discourage a thief.

We pride ourselves on delivering a fast and reliable service with very competitive rates for replacing all your broken glass windows and double glazing units. You make a great deal of sense, but I don't see how this explains him being found near the front door. The door was either kicked or shot in or both. You wouldn't run toward a door that was just forcefully opened in the middle of the night, without a firearm in hand. And if James was answering a knock at the door that he didn't perceive to be threatening, wouldn't there be time enough, after it became threatening, to at least take several steps away from the door?
