My first post on here. Have been following since day 1. Not sure if this is allowed but in the early days there was a phone interview with a family member with I beleive it was cbs and it was stated the door was shot in. After that phone interview the family went silent with media until aunts spoke. It was said the LE didn’t put a gag order but asked family not to speak due to integrity of the investigation. Ie(things accidently being leaked LE don’t want leaked because only shooter and LE know) the interview was in the very early days. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong or maybe the family missstated incorrectly. I beleive that interview was posted on this thread way back but have read so much since then. I have for most part only read this thread.

Could he have been arguing through the door with someone he never expected would kick the door in? Then the perp just kicked the door in and shot him? That doesn't seem to make sense either. Can you really kick down a front door with one kick? I'd love to hear thoughts on how he could be lying near the front door, close enough for an officer to state that it looked as if he was answering the door when he was shot, without a firearm.

Our Locksmith Nottingham engineers Go The Extra Mile by often making sure your door or window os fully secure before leaving your property, even if we are there for a totally different service i.e. a window lock replacement. It has been a huge problem for many years that unqualified tradesmen have been going round providing a rogue trade service and more often than not, poor locking systems around the country. #glasslocksmithnottingham
You make a great deal of sense, but I don't see how this explains him being found near the front door. The door was either kicked or shot in or both. You wouldn't run toward a door that was just forcefully opened in the middle of the night, without a firearm in hand. And if James was answering a knock at the door that he didn't perceive to be threatening, wouldn't there be time enough, after it became threatening, to at least take several steps away from the door?

And last, the Hinge Shields. Burglars know that most residents don’t protect the hinge side of a door, while in fact, it is just as weak as the lock and the jamb. The Hinge Shields are sleeves. They are similar to the Door Jamb Shield and Mini Door Shield, but they are 12-inches long and have cutouts to accommodate both the top and bottom hinges found on a door.
Before completing the job, a technician will test the integrity of the repaired door and make certain that locks operate smoothly and doors operate and seal properly without any unnecessary sticking or squeaking. This service is also a good option for homeowners and businesses with older, worn doors that could be prone to burglaries in the futures.
Remove the clamps. Scrape off any residual dried glue, using the side of the putty knife. Clean the mortise with the end of the putty knife. If it has become distorted, use a chisel to clean and cut the edges of the mortise so the striker plate fits into it as before, with the hole in the plate centered over the hole in the jamb. Screw on the striker plate.

How many seconds does it take to get to a front door from a bedroom or other room in most houses? I would think a person of average mobility in an average house could get to their front door from any room in about 5 to 30 seconds. I have to go down a flight of stairs and traverse the entire house but I can do it in about 15 seconds. So it is possible that if the intruder was not able to breach the door with a single kick but had to use multiple kicks or shoot the door then kick it or shove it then the father could have arrived at the hallway just as the door was being breached and then been shot. Or he could have gotten there before the door was breached and been there as it was breached. I don't think there is a way for us to know that. I am not sure it matters either other than this situation at the door probably all took place in under a minute from start to finish.

Quick installation and affordable pricing make timber boarding up a firm favourite when it comes to protecting a premises for a short period of time; for any longer projects it would be worth considering the benefits of steel screens. These galvanized screens offer added protection due to the increased strength of steel over timber and will stand up much better to wet weather, which will weaken timber boarding over time.
