Jayme Closs disappeared on 10/15/18. Around 1am that morning, police received a 911 call and responded within 4 minutes. They found Jayme’s parents, Denise and James Closs, dead in their home with Jayme missing. Denise and James' deaths were ruled a homicide by gun shot and Jayme went missing. On 1/11/19, Jayme Closs was safely recovered and taken to a hospital for treatment. This is a developing story.
We don't know what the situation was in that house or what the situation was with their guns. The mother and daughter might have had some familiarity with guns but that doesn't mean they would know what to do in a panic situation. Guns are something that have to be almost an automatic conditioned response for someone to be really comfortable using them in an emergency. That takes many hours at the range. Preferably hundreds of hours of shooting. At least dozens of hours. Most women aren't that interested in them to put in that kind of time with them. Frankly they bore me and I go to the range because my SO drags me there and makes me practice sometimes.
You can count on our services for your domestic home or commercial workplace during your time of need. Often the requirement for a boarding-up service is required as a result of a break-in, burglary or even a broken window so you can rest assured knowing that we will treat your call as a matter of urgency and arrive within 60 minutes of your call ending or 30 minutes for emergency situations. Our engineers will respond and attend day or night, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Could he have been arguing through the door with someone he never expected would kick the door in? Then the perp just kicked the door in and shot him? That doesn't seem to make sense either. Can you really kick down a front door with one kick? I'd love to hear thoughts on how he could be lying near the front door, close enough for an officer to state that it looked as if he was answering the door when he was shot, without a firearm.
In the event of a burglary or vandalism it's extremely common for windows to become a target, in most cases getting smashed or become shattered from an attempt, this is usually the case for commercial premises whether it be a large retail store on the high street or small business premises, though it's certainly not uncommon for a residential property to also experience the same. These type of incidents tend to happen out of hours during the night, it's advised to get the window boarded up by a professional as soon as possible to prevent access to the premises through the broken window, once the window has been boarded up professionally this will allow peace of mind until it can be arranged to replace the glass pane and repair any further damage caused in the incident.
You make a great deal of sense, but I don't see how this explains him being found near the front door. The door was either kicked or shot in or both. You wouldn't run toward a door that was just forcefully opened in the middle of the night, without a firearm in hand. And if James was answering a knock at the door that he didn't perceive to be threatening, wouldn't there be time enough, after it became threatening, to at least take several steps away from the door?
