Lock picking is more art than science. There is a definite “feel” for it that is gained through years of practice. All locks are different, but the same basic principles apply. The easiest way to pick a this type of lock with limited or no experience is to use the fast and dirty method of “Bitch Picking” don’t blame us we didn’t name it! 1. Insert Tension Wrench into the Bottom or top of the key way The tension wrench is the key (excuse the pun) to picking a lock. Thanks to movies and tv people wrongfully think it’s the pick, because that is the thing that’s actually lifting the key pins to line up with the shear line. Here’s why the tension wrench is so important, as you’re lifting the pin sets with your pick the wrench puts tension on the plug. If you’re applying the right amount of torque on the plug, once the driver pin passes the shear line, the plug will rotate slightly. When you pull your pick out, the key pins will drop back down, but the driver pin will catch the edge of the plug, staying above the sheer line You’ll keep lifting pins with your pick and applying pressure with your tension wrench, until all the driver pins have cleared the shear line. So take your tension wrench and place it in the bottom or top of the key hole, Apply slight pressure in the direction you would turn the key if you had it. And by slight I mean slight. 2. Insert Pick at Top of Lock Pick your pick. I prefer the Bogota rake that has three peaks and find it to catch multiple pins making the job quicker but use what ever you have or can improvise. 3. While Applying Slight Torque to Your Wrench, Scrub Your Pick Back and Forth in the Key Hole 4. Repeat Until All the Pins Set Keep applying torque on your wrench and scrubbing the pins until they all set.

This is a more common problem than you may think. Do you have to lift the handle and hold it in the fully up position and still struggle to turn the key? If so, this can be putting undue stress on to the multipoint locking system, the cylinder, the handles and hinges of your door. This can lead to premature failure of any or all of these parts and land you with an expensive repair bill. If you are really unfortunate your door could fail in the locked position, either locking you out or into your property. If this sounds familiar, give us a call, we will attend, assess and resolve the problems for you, normally within an hours labour charge plus parts and VAT where necessary.

I made an appt today at 11am, left work to get home on time to meet them, and NO-ONE. I called, and talked to Russ (i think) who said (at 11:20) "we're just finishing a job and we'll be out there in 20min or so." No call to me, no communication that they were running late. I complained that if I stood up my client or showed up late for work I would be fired. "things happen" When i got a little fiesty i was told "I don't work for you" (i agree, but i believe when I am paying for a service, there is a certain expectation of quality and good communcation). Russ told me "I'll not be admonished by anyone" When I said I'll find another locksmith he said "please do!"
