When faced with the decision of what material to pick for your door there is a range of options available to you. Extra thought and care needs to be taken if you are looking for a main entrance door which is in daily use. The choice most commonly is between wood, steel and synthetic fibreglass material. There are also a range of doors which have windows or glass installed, and if one of these doors is what you are after extra precautions to keep a secure entry point is to be kept in mind. The door material which is most secure is generally steel, and these come in a variety of thickness and assembly means.

Lock picking is more art than science. There is a definite “feel” for it that is gained through years of practice. All locks are different, but the same basic principles apply. The easiest way to pick a this type of lock with limited or no experience is to use the fast and dirty method of “Bitch Picking” don’t blame us we didn’t name it! 1. Insert Tension Wrench into the Bottom or top of the key way The tension wrench is the key (excuse the pun) to picking a lock. Thanks to movies and tv people wrongfully think it’s the pick, because that is the thing that’s actually lifting the key pins to line up with the shear line. Here’s why the tension wrench is so important, as you’re lifting the pin sets with your pick the wrench puts tension on the plug. If you’re applying the right amount of torque on the plug, once the driver pin passes the shear line, the plug will rotate slightly. When you pull your pick out, the key pins will drop back down, but the driver pin will catch the edge of the plug, staying above the sheer line You’ll keep lifting pins with your pick and applying pressure with your tension wrench, until all the driver pins have cleared the shear line. So take your tension wrench and place it in the bottom or top of the key hole, Apply slight pressure in the direction you would turn the key if you had it. And by slight I mean slight. 2. Insert Pick at Top of Lock Pick your pick. I prefer the Bogota rake that has three peaks and find it to catch multiple pins making the job quicker but use what ever you have or can improvise. 3. While Applying Slight Torque to Your Wrench, Scrub Your Pick Back and Forth in the Key Hole 4. Repeat Until All the Pins Set Keep applying torque on your wrench and scrubbing the pins until they all set.

In some cases, the problem may lie with the key instead of the lock. Metal keys can wear out after years of repeated use. This problem can usually be solved by having the key copied by a professional. However, a key that is copied enough times will eventually accumulate errors and may not work even while brand new. In this case, it's probably best to replace the entire lock.
Here at locksmith Nottingham we’ve really enjoyed the recent heat wave we’ve been having, the pubs are packed and everyone seems to be a lot happier. That’s when you aren’t at work at least, this weather has made our job a lot harder, but does that mean we’re going to close for business and wait for this heat to pass? Not at all our service is very dependent on us being there for people 24/7 despite the weather adding difficulty to that job. So does that mean we charge customers extra because of the heat? Again no we don’t we just charge normal prices, normal competitive prices, because when we say business as usual we mean business as usual. From the response times to the prices no matter the weather, we’ll be there for you!
Many of Britains van drivers could be putting themselves at risk of theft without the correct level of insurance cover according to a survey by a leading insurance comparison website. Approximately 65% of van owners surveyed, which included many small businesses, said they used their vans to transport tools, goods or equipment and over half of those surveyed said they left items in their vehicles overnight. Approximately 10% of those surveyed also admitted to selecting the 'social only' insurance level to reduce insurance costs which would not be adequate for a business/commercial insurance claim. Other common types of residential locks include mortise locks, which combine the action of a doorknob and deadbolt in one. Mortise locks engage a deadbolt with the turn of the key, just as normal. But upon unlocking, the doorknob will open in tandem with the deadbolt. These locks tend to be much stronger than traditional deadbolt designs, but are often harder to install and thus more expensive.
